I heard once that "it's better NOT to collect THINGS, but to COLLECT PEOPLE!" HAHAHA...I laughed at first, but the more I thought about it the more I understood the true meaning of this quote. The true meaning of FRIENDSHIP!
COLLECTING PEOPLE: It's not to just collect them and say "this is my friend..look at what they do and what they have, and place them on a shelf to collect dust, or maybe even worse, put them on display and practically charge people to meet them, or have YOUR LIFE defined by who you know!!!"
COLLECTING PEOPLE: It's about Christian fellowship, it's the responsibility we have as followers of Christ to show God's unending love for them and to reveal to them the purpose and plans God has for their beautiful lives. It's to INVEST in others and to CHERISH the person that was designed by God to see their own GODLY POTENTIAL...to see these people the way God does and to respect them for everything they were made to be, including the querky things about them. The little things that may annoy YOU, YEAH, that was how God intended them to be! :)
Man...I want to be a collector of people...or to use better word usage, a FISHER OF MAN! I want to really have a heart for people, I desire to invest in people's lives! Like a fisherman who will sit in a boat for a whole day baking in the sun with only a few water bottles and a few sandwiches. His passion is to catch that prize winning fish..or to even get a nibble...SOMETHING to talk about to people. To see the fisherman's devotion, his heart and his perseverence to do what he loves to do and to commit to it, even if it takes all day for just one small nibble from a fish...THAT'S DEVOTION, THAT'S TRUE LOVE!
I WANT TO BE LIKE THIS WITH PEOPLE. To be able to LISTEN, to speak truth and wisdom in their lives when they ask for advice. To sit for days and days and pray for someone and to see even the smallest breakthrough of HOPE in their lives. To never give up on someone no matter what the circumstances may look like..rain or shine I will sit and wait and know that God's will and his purpose will be done in them. All God asks is for a few good FISHERMAN!!
