Worship as an ART FORM!

Hillsong speaks of "the art of losing yourself in worship!"

*Humble Worship= ADORATION to the King!
*Lovesickness...a loss of all senses, fully in LOVE!
worship= it's MORE THAN JUST A FEELING!

I believe I have misunderstood the purpose of worship. What really is the reason we sing every Sunday? For what purpose do we lift our hands or shout out the name of Jesus with angelic voices or some not so angelic. ::wink:: ;)
For Some, singing is something they are proud of and for others a punch in the eye would suffice over a single note streaming from their lips.
Let me ask you a question. Why would a God who loves us so much desire us to worship if it makes US FEEL UNCOMFORTABLE? Why would a God who cares about OUR FEELINGS ask us to lift our hands and look seemingly "stupid" in front of the entire church?
What's that you say? It's not about MY FEELINGS? It doesn't matter if I can't hit a single note or I lift my hands or (GOD FORBID) I even dance??
The more I ponder this thought, the more I am confronted with the real reason we worship. I always thought worship was fun! Yeah, FUN! I mean, I would go to church and sing a few upbeat and spunky songs (except for the BORING old hymens my grandma would listen to, LOL) and then I would dance around a bit and feel really good. I could belt out as loud as I wanted and pretend I'm a rock star!!!
STOP RIGHT THERE: Definition of WORSHIP: EXTRAVOGENT respect or admiration for or devotion to an object of esteem; a divine being. In other words, WORSHIP IS: Reverence to the King! JESUS CHRIST!
oh, wait a second....It's NOT about me? Wait...why doesn't it say anything about feeling good, or about rockin out? Why doesn't it say anything about ME?
That's when it hit me, right there, in the middle of MY PERFORMANCE err..I mean what I thought was worship! BAM!
God spoke "Kristin, why are you lifting your hands? are you just making sure everyone knows you put your deodorant on today? or are you really standing in awe of ME, the one who LOVES YOU and the one who gave you EVERYTHING?
Kristin, why are you belting out songs that say "here I am to worship, here I am to fall down, here I am to say that YOUR MY GOD" and walking away from worship saying "Yeah, worship was ok today, I've had better worship!???
Kristin, once again why are you looking around at other people and judging them by the way they worship ME!
Kristin, THIS IS YOUR FATHER SPEAKING, THIS IS THE ONE WHO LOVES YOU MORE THAN YOU COULD IMAGINE. THIS IS THE ONE WHO SAW YOUR UNFORMED BODY AND KNOWS YOUR EVERY THOUGHT AND DESIRES YOU TO HAVE THE BEST! Kristin...I LOVE YOU!"

WHOA! That's all you have to say God, please forgive me and restore in me a new song a new voice a new mind, one that desires only you and doesn't care about anything else. I LOVE YOU TOO LORD!

It's because GOD Loved us first that we have the FREEDOM to lift our hands to offer him this broken life, this life that he gave us and then sent his son to die for us AGAIN!
I worship God as an offering because of the GRACE God has given me. I don’t deserve this life, I DON'T!
God, for all that you are and all that you've done, I will praise you. Every time I worship (whether it be singing and or just offering my prayers to you, I will offer you my life) I will do so with a spirit of humility and every time I worship it will be GOOD, because it's ALL FOR YOU!!!
May your spirit reign everywhere your people worship. Jesus, may your people feel the freedom to dance, feel the freedom to sing with the Joy of the Lord that is OUR STRENGTH. Fill us with your LOVE as we close our eyes, push OUR thoughts and distractions aside as we focus purely on you.
